Welcome to the website of one of Hampshire's leading amateur theatre groups. Performance venues include our own 50 seat studio theatre, the Nuffield Theatre, the medieval Tudor Merchant's Hall in Southampton; and Hamptworth Lodge where we staged a spectacular open air production of Henry Fielding's Tom Jones in 2009

Premises. The Maskers own their own premises in Southampton where productions are regularly staged in a fully equipped 50 seat studio theatre. There is a large workshop in which sets are designed, built and painted for all our productions. Social activities are enjoyed by members and guests in the Maskers clubroom and bar.

Interested in taking part? Maskers welcomes experienced and inexperienced new members to direct shows, perform on stage or to take part in the many supporting activities. We need people with practical skills to supplement our backstage crew to design and construct sets. Inexperienced actors and directors may have the opportunity of cutting their teeth in the studio theatre where we often indulge ourselves in experimental theatre. If you would like to become a member of The Maskers please complete the application form which you will find by clicking the following link "Application Form"  The form is in PDF format and you will need to have a copy of Adobe Reader installed on your computer, this is free program and can be obtained by clicking the link  ADOBE READER

Technical Matters. If your interest is in theatre lighting or sound effects you can enjoy using our sophisticated sound and lighting equipment. For new or inexperienced members we hold training courses on the use and operation of technical equipment. Our annual production in the open air is a major challenge for our technical staff.

Social Events. We have club nights usually every month in the clubroom and bar. The club nights range from poetry reading evenings to quiz nights, frequently we invite a guest speaker to give a talk on a subject of interest to members and their guests. One of the highlights of our social calendar is an annual summer camping weekend during the August Bank Holiday. In 2002 we celebrated the 25th year of this ever popular family event. Walks in the New Forest with stops for suitable refreshments are popular.
